Goals, or as some of you savvy business people might say ‘targets’ are a great aid for motivation, mindset and determination. Goals are just the end point of planning. Your goal might be 100 rss subscribers. The planning involved might include: using a bigger rss button, offering email subscription, posting more content and attracting more traffic. Once you’ve set your goals you need to plan how you want to achieve them. At the 1st day of each month I will be posting my goals for the next month, as well as giving a review of the past months goals. As this is my first month, I obviously can’t give a review of last months goals. So here are these months goals.
- 15 rss subscribers
- 300 unique visitors
- 2 guest posts on related blogs
rss subscribers - Subscribers are based on quality of the content and amount of traffic. If I get 0 visitors obviously I can’t expect and traffic. If I get 1000 visitors and have no content, or the content is bad, I can’t be expecting any either. So you need to get the balance right, with an emphasis on quality content.
300 unique visitors - For the first month I am going to be relying on guest posts as my main source of traffic. I may do some small scale social bookmarking and link exchanges.
2 guest posts - Before I even started this blog, I contacted around 5 other bloggers who had established blogs and asked them if at all it was possible that I could do a guest post. They all said yes, assuming the content was relevant to their blog.
This concludes my goals for the first month, be sure to check back at the start of next month to see how my goals went and to see my new ones.
