The Brownsville Police Department confirmed the death of a police officer on Thursday, the second officer to be killed in the line of service in two days.
According to the department, Officer David Kallinen was struck and killed in a line of work at the intersection of East and North Third streets just before 7 a.m.
The officer was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police have not identified the officer’s name.
The department does not identify officers who are killed in uniform.
A Brownsvilles Police Department spokesman did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
Kallinen joined the department in 2015 and was assigned to the division’s Traffic and Motorcycle Division.
The district is located in the middle of the city, and is home to the Cleveland Clinic Medical Center.
