An article published by WordPress on March 31, 2017, talks about how to remove the word “dirt” from your theme’s articles.
If you’re using WordPress, the word may appear in a few places in your WordPress dashboard.
If it doesn’t, the best way to avoid this is to check your theme for the word in its settings.
When you see it, click the ‘Show in My Sites’ checkbox.
Next, check the box next to ‘Use the word’ to make sure it’s turned on.
Click the ‘Save Changes’ button and save the changes.
If that doesn’t work, check your WordPress settings again to see if the word is still there.
You may need to restart the theme or the word will reappear.
If the word isn’t there, you can disable it by editing the theme’s settings page.
If your theme doesn’t have a word, you’ll need to edit your themes settings page to remove it.
Once you’ve done that, click ‘Save changes’ again.
If there’s no word there, check to see whether the word has been removed.
If so, restart the WordPress theme.
This process takes a few minutes and you’ll see the word gone from your website.
If not, click to see what else is still visible in your site.
If all else fails, you may be able to add a word or two.
This step is the one most people would want to take first.
WordPress offers three options for adding words to a theme.
The first is to use the WordPress Theme Editor.
This tool is built into WordPress itself and allows you to add new words.
You’ll also need to enable the word support feature of WordPress.
The next option is to install a word removal plugin.
This plugin is built on top of WordPress, so you’ll have to download it and install it first.
Next up is the Word Removal Tool.
This app is also built into the WordPress framework, so it will also require downloading and installing.
Lastly, you could install the Word Cleaner app to clean out your WordPress site’s Word Cache.
The word removal tool isn’t perfect, and you may need additional settings to do it right.
However, the Word Delete tool is the only tool that comes with WordPress, and it’s free.
If these methods don’t work for you, check out our article on how to make WordPress theme tweaks to get a word removed.
